Hosts Carlos Whittaker and Kristen Ivy, who is also cofounder of The Phase Project, talk together about the Phase Guides series, books written to help parents through each phase of a kid’s life, with ideas on how to understand where their kids are, what they need from parents now, and how to navigate critical issues in today’s Best of Parent Cue Live episode.

  • Get some perspective. You may be exhausted. You may be frustrated. You may be wishing this phase over and done with. Remember, you only get 52 weeks in the current phase your child is in. Make the most of it because you won’t be in this phase with them again.
  • Be intentional. There are certain things your kids need in every phase of their life. If you don’t slow down, you’ll miss some critical ways to help them deal with certain issues they’ll face in their current phase.
  • Download the Parent Cue app. The app will send you updates, videos, and other helpful tips to help you parent on purpose. You can download the app wherever apps are sold (but don’t worry — it’s free!).

For adults, life seems to be flying by faster the older we get — almost painfully so. One moment, we’re celebrating New Year’s Eve, the next, we’re sending our kids off to school for the fall school year. Although the days and years seem incredibly short to us, they don’t to our kids. For them, a week is just a week — or an eternity.

Here’s some perspective: You only have 52 weeks to parent your child in the phase they’re in right now. There will never be a time when your kid is two months or two years or 12 years old again. The Phase Guides simplify each stage in parenting by helping us parents pause, review how our kids are changing, and the important ways to support our children at their particular stage.

The Phase Guides give you conversation starters, book lists, and important, age-appropriate topics to discuss with your child. To learn how the Phase Guides can serve you in your parenting right now, tune in to today’s episode of the Best of Parent Cue Live podcast!
