Planting with Faith

Start an herb garden as a family. You don’t need to have a large yard to start an herb garden. You can plant herbs in pots on your porch, balcony, or even a window in your home. Now it may be easier to purchase already-grown herbs, however this month we are learning about faith—trusting what you can’t see because of what you can see. That means you will be starting your herb garden from seeds. Go to your local garden center and find potting soil, herb seeds, and a vessel to grow them in. (You can even find planting materials at a dollar store.) Read the back of your seed packs and follow the instructions.

Now place your Faith Herb garden where it can get sunlight, and water as instructed on seed packets. It will take patience to wait for your herbs to grow. You may not be able to see the seeds growing beneath the soil, however, you know that they are growing because you saw the seeds before you planted them. Your faith will pay off in a few days when the first green stems poke out of the soil and then in a few weeks when you finally have herbs. Whenever you use these herbs remember that faith is trusting what you can’t see because of what you can see.
