YOUR CUE
- Model the behavior you want your kids to adopt. Our kids emulate what they see in their parents, so be intentional about what they observe.
- Remind your children of who they are in God. These reminders will be important when they’re alone and making hard decisions without you.

EPISODE RECAP
Be honest: When you think of parenting through the teenage years, the first word that comes to mind is “dread,” isn’t it?
Stuart Hall has a different opinion on the matter. A father of three, a 22-year-old, a 20-year-old, and an 18-year-old, Stuart is rounding the bend away from the teenage phase and into the empty nester stage. Looking back, he can speak fondly about those years. The conversations are different, the relationships deeper, he says.
Not that those years are without challenge. During this phase, parents are in the coach position now that their kids are old enough to govern themselves. What’s most difficult for parents, Stuart shares, is reminding themselves that parenting this generation is a lot different than in times past. There is a relentless battle of helping your kids maintain a positive perspective on life through the lens of social media that generations before didn’t have to do.
In this episode, Stuart Hall, along with Jon Acuff and Carlos Whittaker, talk about other topics such as:
- Helping your teenagers navigate positive self-image.
- Dating.
- Teaching your kids to slow down and disconnect from social media.
- Why playing organized sports is important.
