Faith Skill(s): HEAR, TALK
This month, it’s your family’s turn to be starstruck! Ditch the devices and embrace the skies for a Family Stargazing Adventure that will create memories brighter than any star.
God’s wisdom has been traced to the stars since the creation of the universe. Have you ever wished you could travel back in time and hang out with kings and prophets of the Bible? Well, guess what? You can join them by looking at the same awe-inspiring night sky. They watched the stars to know God’s promises, navigate vast distances, and marvel at the Creator’s handiwork. Prepare for a night filled with wonder, discovery, and a chance to connect with God’s dazzling display in the night sky.
Choose a clear night with minimal light pollution. (Check online light pollution maps.) Invest in a simple star chart or download a user-friendly stargazing app. These tools will help you identify constellations. Pack a comfy blanket, pillows galore, and bug spray if needed. Don’t forget the most crucial ingredient—a sense of adventure! Head to a park, a beach, or even your backyard if it offers a clear view of the sky.
As you gaze at constellations, the vastness of the universe can evoke a sense of awe and wonder. Discuss how this feeling connects to God’s promises and how we can live with wisdom from God. Use this opportunity to reflect on God’s power and our place in creation.
At the end of the activity, pray together: “God, thank You for how You show us in nature that You are bigger than anything we face in our lives. Help us to remember Your promises, and to trust Your wisdom when we face things that make us scared or anxious.”
